Right after my grandfather died, a malignant melanoma was found on her back. It was removed, but a year later it is discovered that the cancer entered into her lymph system and now she has small cancerous tumors throughout her body. She is going down hill fast. The family started with a nurse 8 hours a day 5 days a week, but that has incrementally increased to 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Now she only gets out of bed to use the restroom. Talking with her on the phone is a challenge because she sounds like she has marbles in her mouth.
I have a plane ticket to go out there March 21st, but everyone seems convinced that she does not even have that long. Justin and I were out there at Thanksgiving when she was still healthy--the cancer had not yet been discovered.
I don't feel any regrets in my relationship with my grandma. If she is ready to go, I encourage her to do so. She has lived a full and rich life. I love my grandma Sarah. Soon she will reunite with her lifelong partner.

That is such hard news Sarah. I see you were named after her? I bet she sure loves you...who doesn't? I hope she can still make it to the 21st so you can see her. It will be a sweet reunion for her with her hubby when that day does come...but it is sooo hard to lose those we love...and especially to see them suffer. I am so very sorry.
