I went back to my doctor today so he could check my incisions (which are fine) and show me all the pictures he took of my insides. He also checked hormone levels which are finally where they should be. It turns out I had stage 3 endometriosis--which means I had 16-40 implants covering my uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. This is considered moderate. These implants cause inflammation on the uterus and are probably the cause of the first loss. I also have some congenital cysts on my ovaries--there since birth. Those were removed because they can look like follicles on an ultrasound. The doctor also showed me the after pictures once everything was cleaned up. It looked a whole lot better and it increases my chances of a successful pregnancy.
He showed me the ectopic pregnancy and my very swollen fallopian tube--there was no saving it. And even if it had been saved, my chances were increased for another ectopic since I have had one, so the doctor would have closed it off. While it sucks to lose a piece of my girly parts, this loss does not affect my chances with IVF. If affects somewhat natural conception, but we are bypassing natural methods at this point.
40-50 women still die every year from ectopic pregnancies--it is a scary situation. I am glad I have such a great doctor who recognizes the signs and takes action. Thank you Dr. Gelety.

Wow....thank goodness for a great doctor to catch it...that really was serious Sarah...scary scary how severe it was. I see good things in this future! :) You are brave!! You are my hero!
Thank You Doctor!!!!!!
Love you Sarah!
I am so glad you got that taken care of...I had endometrosis surgery 5 years ago. It was all over my ovaries, tubes, uterus, bowels and liver... then 6 months of medical menopause to dry it up...then successfully got pregnant the first month of shots. Good luck. :) I am surprised that your other doctors hadn't suspected it since it was progressed, but glad they caught it!! Email me with questions.
good luck with trying out soon ;) will be following your post wt bd!
